Our Programs
Intentionally-designed experiential learning activities take place during outdoor excursions to local parks and recreational areas. Each trip includes at least two of the following components:
- Physical Activity Education - Youth learn safe participation in outdoor activities, including hiking, river rafting, biking, and rock climbing in order to foster teamwork, leadership, and self-reliance.
- Nature Exploration and Education - Participants study nature and the environment through structured experiential learning activities to instill and cultivate a sense of social and environmental responsibility.
- Healthful Lifestyles - Students are educated on topics such as healthful eating habits and physical fitness through structured experiential lessons, including simple food preparation, cumulative physical training programs, and participation in organized athletic competitions.
- Social Connection - UB prioritizes individual attention, and maintains a low participant-to-volunteer ratio, enabling youth to form strong, positive social bonds with both peers and adult role models with whom they share their UB experiences. Participant-to-volunteer ratios range from 1:1 to 4:1.
