VOLUNTEER WITH URBAN BLAZERS

Urban Blazers is an all-volunteer organization that operates in partnership with a small group of selected partner schools, nonprofits and agencies focused on youth development. Each year, we serve hundreds of underserved youth in urban Philadelphia, providing them with opportunities to go biking, hiking, camping, canoeing, rafting, rock climbing and more.

How Do We Select Volunteers?

Urban Blazers has applied a measured approach to adding volunteers, partner schools/agencies, and the number of youth it serves. Our continued growth depends on our ability to attract new funding sources and new volunteers who want to both lead outings AND participate in activities that help sustain the organization. Non-outing activities include event planning, fundraising, equipment management, and volunteer recruiting.

Urban Blazers invites interested individuals to carefully review what we expect and need from volunteers prior to applying. New volunteers will be expected to:

  • Participate in the new leader training
  • Successfully pass required background checks
  • Become certified in First Aid and CPR (within three months of completing training)
  • Become an active leader on one of our established school/agency teams
  • Contribute to our organizational development needs
  • Help become an even stronger and more active program
  • Have fun working with Philadelphia's underserved youth

How Do Interested Volunteers Apply?

Individuals interested in becoming leaders should download the Volunteer Application, complete it and return by email to volunteers@urbanblazers.org.
